Children should brush their teeth twice a day – in the morning and before going to bed. Once they start brushing it will become a part of their daily routine. Here at Dr. Jeffrey P. Feffer DDS, MPH & Associates in Lakeview, we believe it’s important to have a good dentist that will be able to provide you with the best treatment. Dr. Jeffrey Feffer, Dr. Anthony Miceli, Dr. Andrew Hong, and Dr. Maja Simic have come together to provide you with a few tips and tricks that will get your child brushing in no time!
Start a Routine
Make brushing become second nature to your child. The more consistent you are with their brushing schedule, the easier it will become for them. Don’t be tempted to let your child skip brushing!
Make it fun
Try a creative game to help your child brush for 2 minutes. Our dentists recommend playing one of their favorite songs!
Brush your teeth at the same time
Set a good example for your child. The next time you are brushing together, pretend to be a mirror and encourage them to copy your every move.
Reward Good Behavior
Offer your child an incentive for brushing their teeth! Reward them with a new toothbrush after they fill out their sticker chart. You can print a chart out here ( https://www.rewardcharts4kids.com/reward-charts-for-healthy-teeth/) and have your child decorate it.
Make Up a Story
Try reading your child’s favorite story while they brush. If they don’t have one, then make up one that will inspire them to start brushing.
